Dr. Jack WOO, Associate Professor of Business School was invited by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants to serve as a judge for the first round of the 2023 Business Case Competition. The judges of the first round were responsible for selecting 30 reports with concise financial analysis, explanations and summaries, answers to questions and highlighted highlights. The first round of judging will be composed of judges with business backgrounds from Hong Kong and the Mainland and teachers from well-known Mainland institutions. Each judge will review 10-12 reports and recommend the best ones for the second round of judging. We look forward to the wonderful analysis and performance of the participating teams. Shenzhen Technology University is committed to maintaining close cooperation with professional accounting and financial institutions such as HKICPA, ACCA, SHMFTPP to promote the long-term effective export of professional accounting certificate holders and financial technology practitioners.


The HKICPA Business Case Competition (BCC) is an annual event organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants for universities in China, and has been held for 21 years so far. Last year, the competition was well received, with more than 400 teams from 69 universities, including many prestigious universities such as Peking University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, etc. The purpose of the competition is to provide an effective platform for participants to learn from each other, understand the concept of professional qualification course (QP) through real business cases, and cultivate comprehensive skills of college students, including professional judgment, analytical expression ability, presentation skills and teamwork spirit, etc., which is a perfect preview for college students who are preparing for development in accounting, finance and business before entering the workplace.


There are three rounds, the first of which requires each team (consisting of 3-4 undergraduates) to submit a written report in English with a case analysis of no more than 15 pages, including an executive summary of no more than 3 pages, by the deadline. In the second round, the 30 teams shortlisted for the second round of judging will be reviewed by the judges of the second round of marking papers. Grand Final - Short Speech, the 8 shortlisted teams will participate in a live speech competition on December 2, 2023 to give a presentation and live Q&A on their submitted analysis reports.
