Figure 1, On-siteIntroduction

In 1988,aGerman documentary journalist, Andreas Heineck, founded the world’s first Dialogue in the Dark experience in Frankfurt, Germany. Currently,DiD has entered more than 170 cities worldwide, with a core mission to promote social understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities through non-visual experiences. The DiD Shenzhen, the first and only DiDvenue in Southern China, offersa fully darkexperience for participants who engage in activities thatenhance team building, communication, and more, through guided programs. Participants need to use multiple senses, such as hearing, touch, smell, and verbal communication, todevelop their “non-visual perception”.

After the experience, the management team and program guides offered an in-depthdiscussion with the students to recap the activities.Students stated that the collaboration challenges in the dark environment provided them with a more practical understanding of “effective communication.” Hao mentioned that this immersive experience offered concrete support forlearning “how tocollaborate” and “how toempower people with disability.” The DiD experience not only enabled students to think outside the box, but also deepened their understanding of “the essence of team collaboration” and “diversity” through practical application.
