In the highly digitized and interconnected world during the 21st century, innovation is in a strategic position for the survival and development of enterprises. In order to help business school students better understand the relevant knowledge of KM and innovation, Business School held a lecture on "Knowledge Management and Innovation" on December 3, 2024. We are honored to invite Professor Eric Tsui from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Tsui explained the difference between creativity and innovation, and pointed out that creativity is the starting point of innovation. But not all creativity can become innovation, because innovation is the transformation of creativity into new products with economic returns.

At the same time, Professor Eric Tsui talked about the impact of technological innovation, and analyzed how technological innovation can improve the flexibility of enterprises, shorten the development cycle, increase output, and improve scalability, consistency, and reproducibility.

In addition, Professor Eric Tsui also introduced various knowledge management models, including the Van Krogh & Roos model, the SECI model of Nonaka & Takeuchi, and the I-Space model of Boisot. He discussed some common knowledge problems in organizations, such as insufficient knowledge sharing and lack of cross-departmental knowledge, as well as how to improve organizational efficiency through effective knowledge management.

At the end of the lecture, the professor emphasized the importance of innovation in modern enterprises, and how to enhance the innovation ability of enterprises through knowledge management.

Innovation is the driving force for the continuous development of enterprises, and knowledge management is the key to achieving innovation. Through the innovation ecosystem development and effective knowledge management, enterprises can maintain a leading position in a highly competitive market.

Thank Professor Tsui for his wonderful speech, this lecture has helped business school students to have a deeper understanding of innovation and knowledge management. We believe that in the future, students will be able to apply the knowledgetoachieve business excellence through combining theory and practice.
