Business School Students Attended 2019 High Table Dinner for Freshman

The second 2019 SZTU High Table Dinner for Freshmen was held on 26th Nov. All the freshmen and faculty from Business School attended the dinner party. Prof. Gordana Kierans from Business School delivered a nice speech in the ceremony. High table dinner is a custom that comes from Oxford University and the Cambridge University. It includes three staple food, beverages and the coffee after meal. Anyone who joins the High Table Dinner should dress in formal, bachelor robe is also needed. High Table Dinner also has high requirements on personal behavior, such as how to eat, toast and how to greet and address people.

Part 1 Guest:

First, professor Wang Hongzhi, Vice President of Sino-German college of Intelligent Manufacturing suggested students to use the rich resources that SZTU provided and hoped everyone can gain something in the future.

Mr. Zhan kaipin, Vice President of Shenzhen Yee Fung Technology company, visiting professor of SZTU, expressed his hope of having further corporation with our students and school.

Professor Franz Raps, Dean of College of Urban Transportation and Logistics, also encouraged student to make good use of SZTU and earn a good growth.

Mr. Zhi Guosheng, General Manager of Shenzhen Traffic Control Company, gave his best wishes to students at SZTU.

Then, Professor Zhuo Hongbin, Professor of College of Engineering and Physic, got on the stage, he said students should think about what we learn, understand what we learn, and use what we learn.

At last, Prof. Gordana Kierans delivered her speech, she said that it was not easy to be a student, but she sincerely hopes that students can make some achievements, or even become a leader in their field.

It is my great pleasure to attend this High Table Dinner with my classmates and it is the first time for me to come to such a situation, which makes me so excited. The first day of the winter, and as a guest of the first High Table, I came to the scene as a volunteer. When I came into this familiar place again, I reminded the first feeling of wearing Western style suit,and I thought the scene of being accompanied with good teachers and friends,I was touched again. As a freshman at Shenzhen Technology University, it is a great honor for me to attend the High Table Dinner. Great emphasis speaks given by professors, all kinds of delicious food and the wonderful performances of the students, they are all unique memories for me. Meanwhile, it is also a chance for students to communicate with the foreign teachers so that we can understand different cultures better. This is also the first time for me to wear formal clothes to attend this kind of occasion and let me notice that a technology university not only pays attention on learning, but also on the cultivation of their own etiquette in all aspects of life.---LiJiaping
