Hak Yeung holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Innsbruck, Austria, a MSc in Economics for Development from the University of Oxford and a BSc (Hons) in Banking & International Finance from Bayes (formerly Cass) Business School at City, University of London. He qualified as a chartered accountant (ACA) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Prior to SZTU, Hak was a lecturer at the University of Innsbruck and acted as the CFO for a start-up global social media platform. He was also involved in a professional services and training business in Oman before moving to academia.

Hak has over thirty years’ experience in auditing/accounting, investment banking and private equity with firms including KPMG, NatWest Markets and Fajr Capital. He has advised companies and closed transactions in the US, Europe, the Middle East and the Far East. Hak is a seasoned international CFO/CIO/MD with expertise in PE Portfolio Management, Board level experience in investee businesses, plus executive management, strategy, business restructuring, corporate finance, debt/equity capital markets and Islamic Finance. As an international director at Fajr Capital, he was seconded to the leadership team at Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam serving as Head of Group Strategy and Head of Merchant Banking.

Main research interests include political economy, development economics and China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
