Under the guidance of China National MBA Education Supervisory Committee, School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University and the Shenzhen Institute of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University jointly hosted the 6th “Case Writer Excellence” Case Competition. On January 10, 2024, a list of nationwide winners are posted among whom, Associate Professor Hao CHEN and Associate Professor Yunxia WANG from our School won the second prize of the national competition.

The case they wrote is a decision-making case, focusing on scientists' entrepreneurship, taking Dr. Wenfeng HU, who is both a scientist and an entrepreneur, as an example, describing his early entrepreneurial experience, demonstrating the characteristics of scientists' entrepreneurship, the exploration and journey in his business choices, as well as the current entrepreneurial choices he is facing. The case is mainly applicable to courses such as Entrepreneurship and Management. It focuses on the discussion of the characteristics of scientists as entrepreneurs, identification of entrepreneurial opportunities, management of resources and development of competitive advantages, etc. It is suitable for undergraduate and graduate courses, and can help students to strengthen their understanding of opportunity identification, resource acquisition and utilization, and learn how to analyze and manage existing resources, and make rational decision.

Since the launch of the 6th Case Competition in July 2023, it has received numerous submissions from case authors across the country. The competition continues to focus on “Zhuan Jing Te Xin (specialized and sophisticated enterprises that produce new and unique products)”, and in addition to the national case awards, it has set up the Greater Bay Area case awards for the first year. After reviewed by the case reviewer committee, two first prizes and eight second prizes were awarded for the national case awards, and one first prize and two second prizes were awarded for the Greater Bay Area theme case awards.
