On May 28th, Regina Fang-Ying Lin, Associate Professor of Business School, was invited by the 2022 International Conference on Mathematical Statistics and Economic Analysis (2022 MSEA) to give a speech keynote: "New direction for Urban development: from urbanization towards Happy City".

At the beginning of the speech, Prof. Lin introduced the main background of the economic development in China and emphasized the importance of the urban construction on residents' well-being. Her research proposed a happy city theoretical framework by summarizing the literature review findings and text mining results. The empirical results of the questionnaire conducted by the research group show that Chinese people were happier in 2021 than in 2019. Further, the top 3 significantly factors are urban transportation, home lighting and medical service in the full sample. However, cities are individual differences. Dr. Lin's research aims to provide ideas for creating a "diversified plus personalized" happy city and embed residents' happiness in urban construction, which meets the goal of people's expectation for a better life.
