The World-Renowned Economist Alessandro Golombiewski Teixeira Visited the Business School

On the afternoon of April 27, at the invitation of the School of Foreign Languages, the world-renowned economist Alessandro Golombiewski Teixeira visited SZTU and had a cordial discussion with the professors from Business School.

Professor Alessandro was selected for the "Thousand Talents Plan" of the People's Republic of China. He is currently a full-time professor at the School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University, Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School, and Tsinghua Schwarzman Institute and teaches courses like "international economic analysis", "analysis of industrial policy", "research methods" and " international trade " etc. He has also taught at the world's top-tier universities such as Columbia University, Harvard University, MIT, Oxford University, and Imperial College.

Professor Alessandro has extensive experience in international politics and served as a consultant to numerous international organizations. From 2003 to 2016 he served in various senior positions in the Brazilian Government, such as Minister of Tourism, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Development Industry and Foreign Trade and Chief Economic Adviser to the President of Brazil.

Throughout his career, Professor Alessandro has received numerous awards. In 2008, he was named "Latin America Person of the Year" by the Financial Times and received two of Brazil's most honorable honors: the Rio Branco Order and the Medal of Merit for National Defense.

The seminar was hosted by the Dean of Business School, Prof. Holger Haldenwang. Dean of the School of Foreign Languages Ms Zhong Ling and Assistant Prof. Si Jinghui, and Business School faculty, including Prof. Nebojša Radojević, Assoc Prof. Cheah Chee Wei, Assistant Prof. Doris Ding and Jerry Zhang, Ms Wang Miaomiao, Li Xueqi and Liang Minyi attended the seminar.

Firstly, the Dean of Business School, Prof. Holger Haldenwang connected via video chat from Shanghai and he warmly welcomed Professor Alessandro. Prof. Holger Haldenwang introduced his work experience and the curriculum setting and education concept that fully learned from the applied sciences University of German. Later, Ms Li Xueqi showed the Business School and the International Business program in detailed through slides, so that Professor Alessandro had a comprehensive understanding of the Business School.

Afterwards, Professor Alessandro cordially exchanged his rich teaching, scientific research and international political experience, and said that he had visited many business schools, but the Business School of SZTU, as one of the few applied business schools in China, impressed him the most so he praised our school's practice-oriented education concept.

At the seminar, all attendees expressed their strong intention of cooperation.

Professor Nebojša Radojević said that our school implements a variety of international exchanges and school-enterprise cooperation projects at the undergraduate level, so that students have rich resources of exchanges and cooperation projects. Professor Alessandro said that he is very happy to provide cooperation opportunities in various ways in the future, including exchanges and interactions on faculty and cooperation projects. He also invited Dean Holger Haldenwang to visit Tsinghua University. Dean Holger Haldenwang expressed his heartfelt gratitude and said that he will meet face-to-face with Professor Alessandro and will keep close contact.

Through this seminar, Professor Alessandro has a deep understanding of the Business School. Both the two sides will carry out exchanges and cooperation, which has long-term significance for expanding students' practical resources and enriching faculty.
