Business school Dean Prof. Holger Haldenwang is concerned about the students’ current situation. On April 14, he held an online cloud meeting with the students and delivered his speech.

In the speech, Prof. Haldenwang introduced the local epidemic situation in Germany and encouraged students to strengthen the epidemic prevention and to keep a good balance between study and life before sending out his warm greetings.

"First of all, I wish you and your family are healthy. As you know, this outbreak has caused a lot of inconvenience, especially for you, young people, who need to go out as little as possible and observe strict social distance; The COVID-19 outbreak has posed a severe challenge to all of us. I greatly admire and appreciate your contributions and efforts." Haldenwang said.

Subsequently, Prof. Haldenwang analyzed the epidemic situation in Germany during mid-April 2020 from the perspective of an economics professor.

"The vast majority of schools and entertainment venues are closed, people are working from home and strictly observing social distance. Public transport here has also been affected. Frankfurt airport, for example, witnessed a rapid fall of passenger traffic (95%) compared with the same period last year.

Not only the public life is largely affected, but also the industry and manufacturing. “For example, most assembly lines at Volkswagen and BMW are at a standstill, and all these inconveniences have a negative impact on the economy."

Prof. Haldenwang pointed out that "despite the economic burden, people's health is the most important thing."

A two-week Winter School Program at the University of Applied Sciences Regensburg (OTH Regensburg) Germany, was originally planned for 30 business school students at the end of January 2020, but have to be postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Prof. Haldenwang told the students, "I have been in self-isolation in Bavaria, Germany, for three weeks up to now, and I am currently sending greetings and best wishes to everyone at home in Regensburg.

Dear students, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we have to postpone the Winter School Program in Germany this year, and you have also been attending the remote online course for 7 weeks. But the good news is that normal on-site campus teaching will start on 18th May as the situation in China gradually improves."

"Dear students, please be more patient and have more confidence, continue to strictly comply with the epidemic protection requirements.

The COVID-19 outbreak will finally pass, and I look forward to seeing you at SZTU campus very soon."

In the end, once again, Prof. Haldenwang sent warm greetings to all the students.
