The System Thinking & Circular Economy lecture, taught by our college’s Professor Gordana Kierans has already accompanied us for three months. During the time, we students have learned a lot related to circular economy in the class and we all gradually got interested in how to apply the knowledge in many companies. Together with two professors, students of Business School visited three famous enterprises in Shenzhen to inquire and learn about the situation of the industry about circular economy on 30 November.
First Stop: Yifeng Automation Parking Equipment Co., Ltd
Yifeng Automation Parking Equipment Co., Ltd, a large foreign capital high-tech enterprise, which first got the national manufacturing qualification. And its staple products include: intelligent storage, elevator parking tower, lift and traverse type (2 to 5 layers), simply lifting type, horizontal circulation, hydraulic automobile elevator and so on. On the morning of November 30, Professor Kierans led Shenzhen Technology University’s students from the Business School and many second-year students from other Colleges to the Yifeng Automation Enterprise. They learned about its sales scope, product category, enterprise’s advantages and achievements, such as: North Technology Innovation Building, robot parking, bus parking and charging lot and intelligent storage device of North Library.
Second Stop: Filigree Inlay High-quality Jewelry Exhibition of Shenzhen Jewelry Museum
The exhibition is organised by Shenzhen Jewelry Museum and Chihuahua Jewelry, which focuses on the long-lasting charm of the Chinese filigree inlay craft. The xibition is divided into four parts: ‘Wang•Xi’, ‘Jing•Zhi’, ‘Hua•Cai’, ‘Cui•Bian’. These four parts also show the filigree craft’s history, filigree craft’s process, the high- quality artworks of filigree inlay craft and modern craft’s charm. The subject of the circular economy is linked with the waste from the process of sanding the gold material and others from the exhibition.
Third Stop: Zhongke Meicheng Creative Space
Students visited also Zhongke Meicheng Creative Space, which was founded by Li Yongzhou, a famous young entrepreneur from Luohu, Shenzhen. Li is an experienced entrepreneur with a background from industry and finance. Zhongke Meicheng is committed to building office, incubation, industry as one of the industry incubations bases. The base want to be ‘the place where dreams begin’. The incubator hopes to help new establishment by providing value-added services and committing to building an ecosphere for entrepreneurs.
Fourth Stop: PREGENE
The last company to visit was PREGENE in the Biotechnology Park, which is a leading CDMO company in China. The company is committed to developing ways to treat with cells and genes to meet the requirements of IND applications. PREGENE hopes to innovate the gene and cell therapy technologies and turn them into reliable products that provide contract development and manufacturing capabilities in specific areas to customers around the world. PREGENE can independently complete a range of operations for the development of new technologies, including process development of plasmids, lentiviral vector and cells, as well as other non-clinical studies, including Pharmacodynamics, Pharmacokinetics and Toxicology.
After visiting four businesses, our students have a better understanding of the circular economy class. The circular economy is not a well-known word in China so far. However, it is very known and supported in the European Union and other parts of the world. It is not only related to the environment around us, the sustainable development of our economy, but also to the future development and success of every enterprises. We believe that after this extra-curricular practice, we will be more patient to study this course, strive to get good score and contribute to society in the future.
